The Me and Music Tag

It’s been a while since I did any kind of tag post, let alone music-themed, so I was super excited to read Abby’s post featuring this super fun tag! It was originally created by Sophie @ Me and Ink, where you can find really cute graphics which I decided not to use because WordPress storage is not a lot. There are seventeen prompts, and I’ll do thirteen of them. It also says you can use up to five songs at each prompt, so that’s exciting! It lets me rave about my favourite music, which is honestly the best kind of activity. So grab a beverage of your choice, because this one is going to be long!

It’s a Love Story: favourite songs about love

“Bittersweet memories
That is all I’m taking with me
So goodbye, please don’t cry
We both know I’m not what you—you need”

“She’s in the rain
You wanna hurt yourself
I’ll stay with you
You wanna make yourself
Go through the pain
It’s better to be held
Than holding on”

Genius English translation

“My heart has always been yours alone
My worries have been ’bout you all along
Always your way
To you, I will go”

Marianne Topacio’s translation

“Oh, oh woe-oh-woah is me
The first time that you touched me
Oh, will wonders ever cease?
Blessed be the mystery of love”

“The power of love
A force from above
Cleaning my soul
Flame on burn desire
Love with tongues of fire
Purge the soul
Make love your goal”

So, as you can tell from the get-go, I have quite a variety here. And it’s not that I don’t have more favourite love songs, these were just the ones that first popped up in my head. Some could actually fit for favourite sad songs, as they are heartbreaking, but that’s just how life and love are…

Shut Up and Dance: favourite songs for dancing

I actually got up to dance when it started, so… 😂 This beat is just so irresistible, such a perfect rap line song!

I mean, if you’re not dancing and screaming “dancing queen” from the top of your lungs every time you hear this song… Such a bop, instant mood booster.

Yes, I’ve been obsessed with ABBA recently, as you can probably tell. Actually, this is my favourite song by them, I can’t resist moving my body when this plays. Such an addictive and fun song.

It helped that I danced to this song numerous times thanks to THIS YouTube channel, but this song is so energetic and fun, that you can not help but move.

This is also one used as a dance workout! It’s quick-paced and addictive, perfect for a boost of energy.

If This Was a Movie: songs from film/tv/broadway

The one and only Wicked. I randomly discovered it in 2020, around the time I started this blog, and it’s still the only musical I love. I wish I saw it with the original cast! This song is probably my favourite, though I have a hard time deciding.

I haven’t seen this musical yet, and I haven’t listened to the full soundtrack, but this one stuck out to me immediately, it’s so good.

I’m so glad this song exists. It was in 2gether: The Series, which is the first Thai BL drama I watched, and it has a special place in my heart. Every time I hear it, I see drunken Sarawat singing this to Tine. I can’t believe I discovered it more than a year ago!

I adore this dreamy song, and I also love to sing it as my voice range fits it perfectly.

The fact that not all five of these songs are k-drama songs shows that I can resist the temptation, too. 😅 However, I just had to feature my absolutely favourite k-drama track from Nevertheless. Every song is a masterpiece, especially this one, which is just on another level. It makes me feel so many emotions, and it flies me back to the times I watched this series.

Comfort Crowd: songs that make you feel calm

“Like an echo in the forest
Another day will come
as if nothing happened
Yeah life goes on
Like an arrow in the blue sky
Another day will fly by
On my pillow, on my table
Yeah life goes on
Like this again”

Doolset Bangtan’s translation

“You got me
Seeing you, I dream
I got you
In the pitch-black nights,
each other’s light that we each other saw
Speaking the same thing, we were
The starlight that shines more in the deepest night”

Doolset Bangtan’s translation

This song is not calming because of the theme or the lyrics, only because of Yoongi’s voice. I love the beat, rhythm, everything about it.

“It shall pass
(Everything, everything, everything goes)

Doolset Bangtan’s translation

“I’m the one I should love in this world
The shining me, the precious soul of mine
So I love me
I realize only now, so I love me
Though I’m not perfect, I’m so beautiful”

Doolset Bangtan’s translation

Yeah, I just shared five songs from BTS or its members. I don’t know why, but out of all the artists I love and listen to, BTS is the one that has the biggest calming effect on me. The lyrics, the music, the voices, I just adore them so much.

Always Remember Us This Way: songs that remind you of your childhood

I remember listening to The Smurfs version on a cassette tape. I don’t know if it existed in multiple languages, but I definitely remember a Hungarian version.

Motivate: songs that simply motivate you

Another trophy
My hands carry ’em
Too many that I can’t even count ’em

I’m a king, I’m a boss

These two songs hype me up like no other. They definitely give off confident vibes, which I need to channel if I want to motivate myself.

Old Town Road: retro songs you love

I love this song with all my heart. It doesn’t only have amazing lyrics, but the beat is so cool and unique.

I mean, who doesn’t love this masterpiece? The epitome of Christmas songs, it needs to be played every year. Little fun fact of child me: I used to mix George Michael with Michael Jackson. 😂 I found their names confusing, so I had a hard time saying the right one.

This is simply the best. Her voice is just so powerful, I’m in awe.

My dad’s a huge Led Zeppelin fan, so I’ve listened to this since being a kid. Yes, it’s long but so worth every minute, your ears will be blessed.

I can’t get enough of this song, it has such a unique atmosphere.

Cry with You: favourite sad songs

Do yourself a favour, and don’t read the comments on this video, or else you’re going to spend some time crying. It’s not even that sad of a song, but still, it’s bittersweet.

I can get really emotional while listening to songs, and this was the first one that I just couldn’t listen to without crying. I can now, but boy, oh boy, was I going through tissues quickly.

This is a gorgeous and powerful song written about a piano. Yes, and I cried multiple times. But I couldn’t help it, listen to Yoongi singing/rapping so emotionally, and try not to feel touched by it.

After watching Love Alarm, I just couldn’t listen to this song without shedding tears. The melody and the lyrics are just so heartbreaking.

Double meaning, the same amount of sadness. I think this has to be Taylor’s most depressing song, but that’s one of the reasons why it’s on my top list.

Writer In the Dark: songs with your favourite lyrics

Leave the perfume on the shelf
That you picked out just for him
So you leave no trace behind
Like you don’t even exist
Take the words for what they are
A dwindling, mercurial high
A drug that only worked
The first few hundred times

Clover blooms in the fields
Spring breaks loose, the time is near
What would he do if he found us out?
Crescent moon, coast is clear
Spring breaks loose, but so does fear
He’s gonna burn this house to the ground

They told me all of my cages were mental
So I got wasted like all my potential
And my words shoot to kill when I’m mad
I have a lot of regrets about that
I was so ahead of the curve, the curve became a sphere
Fell behind on my classmates, and I ended up here
Pouring out my heart to a stranger
But I didn’t pour the whiskey

I want auroras and sad prose
I want to watch wisteria grow right over my bare feet
‘Cause I haven’t moved in years
And I want you right here
A red rose grew up out of ice frozen ground
With no one around to tweet it
While I bathe in cliffside pools
With my calamitous love and insurmountable grief

All my flowers grew back as thorns
Windows boarded up after the storm
He built a fire just to keep me warm
All the drama queens taking swings
All the jokers dressin’ up as kings
They fade to nothing when I look at him

Did I just use this prompt to feature five Taylor Swift songs? Yes, I did, because this woman is a remarkably talented songwriter, she’s literally telling stories in three minutes.

Sign of the Times: favourite songs from the current global music charts

I didn’t even plan that my choice matches the prompt so perfectly (Sign of the Times is a Harry Styles song too). He is so talented, and deserves all the attention! Also, this music video is so good.

More Than Memory: songs you relate to specific memories

I discovered Panic! at the Disco in 2018, and that summer I showed Pray for the Wicked album to a friend, and when it came to this one, I just started singing it and doing dramatic hand gestures. It was so funny, and even though this is a sad song, I just feel happy when I think of it.

Sing: you just have to sing along to these songs

Any time I hear this song, I just can’t help but (try to) sing it. When I studied Spanish with my friend, we used to sing it a lot, and I loved doing the rap part, even if it was difícil. Yes, I know it’s quite a juicy song, but honestly, it has such a good rhythm that I don’t care.

Favourite Record: the albums you couldn’t live without

1. folklore: my favourite Taylor Swift album ever. Yes, I finally decided on the ranking!

2. evermore: it’s almost just as top-notch as folklore, but I have more emotions attached to that one.

3. Love Yourself: Answer: it is the first physical BTS album I bought, so it has a special place in my heart. I love all of the songs, it has Trivia: Seesaw, FAKE LOVE, Tear, Epiphany, Euphoria, and so on. I could literally write down all of the titles as they are all god-tier.

4. Nevertheless OST: yes, this might be a cheat, but I can not leave out my absolute favourite k-drama soundtrack. This is the best, I could listen to it every day and still wouldn’t get bored of it.

5. Let Go: Avril was probably the first artist I really got into, so I will always think fondly of her first album. I still listen to it occasionally.

  1. Thank you so much for doing this tag ❤️ I really loved reading your answers. Definitely songs I have memories with too– Hotel Californian, Once Upon A Dream, Dancing Queen. Some blasts from the past there.

      1. Yeah, such a cute show 🥰 I don’t know too many people either, but I love the filming style. Bad Buddy was one of my favourites. The chemistry and plot was so good!
I recently watched KinnPorsche, a mafia style BL series. I liked it, a bit different but it has another great song in it!
Have you watched any other ones? 🤎

  2. i am so so late but omg i’m so happy you did this tag morgan!! naming five bts and five taylor swift songs in a row is the biggest mood and one i relate to immensely. “first love” and “the lakes” are both actual masterpieces 🤩 and “thank goodness” is such an underrated song!! kristin chenoweth is truly something else on the wicked soundtrack. and speaking of musicals, dear evan hansen’s soundtrack is one of the best!! the movie they decided to make of the musical kind of ruined the story for me lol but the music is top-notch.

loved reading these answers morgan!! 💖
